The Green IT Perspective

By Matthew Wheeland

The green IT news week runs quite parallel to the news happening in Denmark; as part of the growing adoption of "green IT 2.0," organizations as diverse as business-intelligence software giant SAP AG to the NGO The Climate Group are highlighting IT's role in reducing the world's carbon footprint.

And in our top story this week, Paul Dickinson from the Carbon Disclosure Project highlights how technological innovations are not just key to achieving significant carbon reductions, but are also opening up huge business opportunities for forward-thinking companies.

This time of year also ramps up the good-deed impulse among companies. KOM Networks has launched an e-waste collection project that will raise funds for the international hunger-relief agency Feed the Children.

What also comes with that time of the year is a much-needed holiday. With this issue we're signing off for the rest of the year, and will resume on January 6, kicking off what is sure to be another record-breaking year for green IT innovations. Thanks for reading, and as always, your comments are welcomed at editor@greenerworldmedia.com.
