Sabo is right about the lack of standard guidelines in our industry, though fortunately there are some standards for the different areas that make up an event, as he no doubt discovered. And it's improving all the time. And, yes our industry has been pretty wasteful over the years, but thankfully we've woken up to our messy habits and have learned to eliminate much of that waste, save money on our client's investment and create an educational and marketing opportunity at the same time. The marketplace is also driving some of this. One venue we are dealing with has lost business due to a competitor's more sustainable policies and is making a concerted effort to change, thus making my job a little easier.
