Transportation Key Aspect of Green Supply Chain
One must not forget the dirtiest aspect of a green supply chain - the transportation. Programs are beginning to come on the market that take that into consideration. Even freight companies have begun offsetting carbon, using biofuel and utilizing green shipping strategies. One such company is EA Logistics with the introduction of the Delivered GrEAn program that came on board early this year. To date large trade shows welcome this service for exhibitors to offset shipping carbons and be 'green' all around. Other companies have also seen the light and realize that this not only makes eco-sense but good common cents too!

Another key aspect of effective corporate sustainability strategies, including supply chain sustainability is the importance of engaging internal and external stakeholders. This is invaluable in understanding the current situation, needs, drivers and trends that may impact the economic, environmental and social sustainability of a business. This becomes a foundation for developing initiatives that are integrated with existing business processes and systems to drive sustainable value.
