We need to utilize everything in out power to reduce our dependence on foreign oil including using our own natural resources.OPEC will continue to cut production until they achieve their desired 80-100. per barrel. The high cost of fuel this past year seriously damaged our economy and society. Oil is finite. We are using oil globally at the rate of 2X faster than new oil is being discovered. We need to take some of these billions in bail out bucks and bail ourselves out of our dependence on foreign oil. Jeff Wilson has a really good new book out called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence Now. He explores our uses of oil besides gasoline, our depletion, out reserves and stores as well as viable options to replace oil.Oil is finite, it will run out in the not too distant future. WE need to take some of these billions in bail out bucks and bail America out of it's dependence on foreign oil. The historic high price of gas this past year did serious damage to our economy and society. WE should never allow others to have that much power over our economy again. I wish every member of congress would read this book too.

Instead of building a new city , they should be focusing in recycling the other ones in UAE, applying this concept not creating one from scratch that will involve a huge demand for other natural resources but replacing/updating the current oil addicted cities with the clean tech.

They are trying to build a completely green city because it's far more profitable to ship their oil overseas and sell it to us than burn it in their own country, not because they are altruistic. Still, it's very impressive.

We often forget, when comparing Coal fired power plants to others, that the Coal plants require a steady flow of expensive to mine, exhaustible resource to continue to operate. In the Capitalistic world, "something for nothing" is an oxymoron, an unacceptable logic. In the real world, the Hoover Dam, once built, and for the price of maintenance alone, still produces significant, relatively "free" power. Solar, Wind, Wave, Tidal and Geothermal power share that same common bond with Hydro power - once the power plant is established, the power, for the price of maintenance only, flows PERPETUALLY! We have all been taught that "Perpetual" anything is not natural or possible! This is the lie of the century! The truth is hard for an American mind to swallow, or even conceive but the truth is, "renewable" and "Perpetual" are synonymous, for all practical purposes, when talking Solar, Wind, Wave, Tidal and Geothermal power! The Arabic languages and beliefs do not impose such logic breaks as we have, so it is obvious to them! They are just following the normal, logical way! It is the capitalistic, "Pay Now, Pay Every time! propaganda that brainwashes us into many foolish logic conundrums, and this is one of them!
