women and sustainabilty

"Panelist Nancy Parmer of UPS called women "multidimensional and multi-generational, so they understand that what we do today impacts the future."

About 60 percent of the sustainability committee at UPS are women, she said." This is a broad statement about women in the industry but it does make a certain amount of sense, due to the glass ceiling in many of high end jobs, women have had to find other ways of sticking out in order to be noticed. Though as for greening the business place, I think it matters not what gender you are, but your commitment to the Earth and reducing your emissions and other such business practices. It's a little surprising that 60% of UPS workforce is women, but it would be a little cheap in my mind to say they are more green minded because of that. Here at the University of Vermont Global Sustainability institute, we feel that when each person has a responsibility for positive change for the earth, male or female.
