So You're the New Sustainability Director: Now What?

Sustainability strategy similar to quality strategy

I agree with much that's said in the article, including the need for quick financial wins (by focusing on energy savings and minimizing waste) and looking at sustainability as a long term project. Companies should be striving to continuously improve their sustainability performance, just as in the 1970's and 1980's companies focused on continuous quality improvement. No company will ever be 100% sustainable, just like no company will ever deliver a product of perfect quality. The best we can hope for is being on a strong path towards ever improving sustainable business practices.

Over time sustainability practices will become embedded in the company strategy. In the short term, separate strategies focused on environmental and social issues are necessary in order to achieve the required focus on a new approach towards doing business.

Not so

Nestle Waters should be the last company in the world to represent anything "green" they are vicious. They have their mitts on the whole world. They sell garbage as food and they bully anyone who has water that they want. Pick some other company please-for the sake of credibility!
