This report from IHS takes a close look at the growing impact of environmental regulations -- around the world, from China to California to the E.U. -- on supply chain sourcing, and how companies can ensure and enforce compliance with environmental standards.
The report notes the advantages conferred on companies that can quickly and thoroughly modify their internal processes to address the sometimes rapid changes in regulations and other external forces, including consumer preference and increased supplier costs.
IHS here addresses RoHS legislation in the E.U. and China, as well as Japan's regulations on chemicals in electrical and electronic equipment. The report's authors also show how companies can use three strategies to ensure compliance, including direct sourcing of environmental information from suppliers; physical, lab-based verification of that information; and in-field testing of parts and materials for the same information.
