OAKLAND, Calif. — Accenture launched the beta of its Green Data Center Calculator to help drive efficiency and cost savings.
According to Silicon.com, a division of CNET Networks UK, Accenture's calculator recommends ways in which companies can realize savings, such as consolidating equipment, virtualization and reducing redundancies.
The calculator reaches these recommendations from the input of various information, such as data center size, cooling and cleaning set-up, future carbon costs and price of electricity.
The full service could go live in roughly three months. About 20 companies are now included in the calculator's database.
Accenture predicts that companies can recoup the investment made for a green calculator recommendation within a year.
"We can spell out a lot of different scenarios using mathematical models to find out the best solution for their data center, based on company experience," Accenture Technology Labs' Teresa Tung told Silicon.com.
