The American Chemistry Council represents chemical manufacturers on public-policy issues, coordinates research on the safety of chemical products, and administers the industry's environmental, health, and safety initiative, known as Responsible Care. Through the Responsible Care program, ACC members follow pollution-prevention and product-stewardship codes. The council sets performance goals for participating companies to monitor the effectiveness of the Responsible Care principles.
