Best Buy's recycling program will expand to all of its 1,006 US stores beginning February 15. Once the program is in effect, the electronics retailer will accept up to two units per day from each customer.
Acceptable items include televisions, computer monitors, laptops, small electronics, VCR and DVD players, and phones.
Customers will be charged a $10 recycling fee, but Best Buy will issue a $10 gift card in exchange. The fee doesn't, however, apply to California stores or Best Buy-branded products.
Best Buy already offers a host of recycling options at many of its locations, including recycling kiosks, appliance and television haul-away and pick-up, and trade-in programs. The company also sells renewable energy credits through the "Green Your Phone" initiative.
