San Francisco, Calif. — Born to a librarian mother and a father with a PhD in nuclear physics, Cam had no choice but to be curious about everything from Dewey Decimal Classification to Stanford’s Linear Accelerator. This combination of scientist and historian gave him the unique ability to take things apart, catalog the bits, and explain how to put it all back together. Throughout his career Cam has focused on the structured design of information to provide users with the most efficient pathways through the products he has produced.
Cameron held senior management roles at two Fortune 500 companies in the technology space, where he specialized in product development and marketing of extremely technical products. Desiring more creativity, Cam spent 28 months locked away in a think tank designing and developing technology driven consumer products. When he emerged an idea was presented for a clever box that used a disc drive to record television. The product included a cartoon character to guide you through the process. His insistence that consumers would not pay more than 350 bucks for such an item got him ejected from the tank but freed him to focus on new models of innovation. Cam left the corporate world to work directly for clients at an early “interaction design” studio where he was Chief Corporate Strategist.
Cameron holds multiple degrees in business science and organizational communication from The University of San Francisco.
Cam’s work is featured in Communication Arts, IdN, DesignInteract, and ID Magazine. He has contributed thought leadership and research to McKinsey & Company, Deloitte Consulting, Interwoven, Razorfish, The California HealthCare Foundation, The Institute for Public Health, The Beacon Collaborative, The Blue Shield of California Foundation, The Level Playing Field Institute, and The Corporation For Public Broadcasting.
