Based on the international set of standards laid out in ISO 14040, the environmental product declaration (EPD) system allows companies to detail the environmental performance of products or services in a uniform format. The idea is provide consumers with a fair basis of comparison between products according to environmental performance. EPDs can also show environmental improvement of a product or service over time.

This Web site, maintained by the Swedish Environmental Management Council, houses a wealth of practical information on the EPD system and offers tips on how to register for an EPD. The site also features an extensive list of current EPD products, searchable by category, country, and company name. Most of these products originate in Europe and Scandinavia.
