Washington, DC — Organized by Conservation International and the Ford Motor Company, the Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB) engages industries that have the greatest impact on the world's critical ecosystems -- and that have the greatest potential to promote positive environmental change. The center works with businesses in the following sectors: agriculture, energy, financial services, fisheries, forestry, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and travel and leisure. Projects target three critical issues: climate change, biodiversity, and water. Past projects have included a partnership with Starbucks to develop new coffee-sourcing guidelines that promote conservation and biodiversity. The center's climate change program works with companies "to reduce and offset greenhouse gas emissions in their own operations as well as invest in carbon and energy offsets."
