Washington, D.C. — The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program promotes the development of environmentally and economically sustainable methods of producing food and fiber. It gives grants that fund basic and applied research, economic and public-policy projects, seminars and field demonstrations, and graduate-student awards. SAREP uses the fruits of this labor to educate farmers, farm workers, and consumers in California on sustainable agriculture practices. Its publications include a "Growers' Guide to Environmental Regulations & Vineyard Development" and "Sustainable Farming Systems: A Guide to the Transition." SAREP also produces a newsletter three times a year.Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program
