It's Easy Being Green! A Guide to Planning and Conducting Environmentally Aware Meetings and Events
Published February 01, 2006
The U.S. EPA's Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response has provided an excellent compendium to the planning of events and meetings. A guide intended for organizers of events, "It's Easy Being Green!" demonstrates the advantages to designing environmentally conscious events and provides an easy-to-follow checklist for integrating waste minimization into event planning. The intention of the guide is to encourage event planners to examine the ways in which waste can be eliminated, reduced, or recycled during the course of the meeting. Among the possibilities of waste reduction, serving food on reusable plates and printing materials on recycled paper with nontoxic inks are mentioned in the report.
In the just-published State of Green Business 2010 report, we take an extensive look at the data behind the move toward making mainstream businesses greener.
