The startup Aquacue offers a look at the innovations that landed it among the 10 enterprises showcased at NASA's LAUNCH: Water, the first in a series of forums on proposed solutions to sustainability challenges.

This slide presentation and information available on the Aquacue page at launch.org were delivered at the conference held March 16-18, 2010, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

GreenerBuildings.com Executive Editor Rob Watson, who is a member of the LAUNCH Advisory Council, had a chance to chat with Aquacue founder Shahram Javey and came away impressed with the company's patent-pending "Barnacle," which clips onto an existing meter, and software that monitors use at up to 10-second intervals.

Aquacue enables the benchmarking of water use in buildings and the comparison of the consumption to that of similar users, in addition to the building's historical use.

The other firms and organizations recognized by LAUNCH: Waters are listed in this GreenerBuildings article and at launch.org.

Joining NASA as founding partners in the LAUNCH program are the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. State Department and Nike.
