The Alliance for Environmental Technology is an international association of chemical manufacturers working to improve the environmental performance of the pulp and paper industry. AET acts as a clearinghouse for educational and technical resources relating to chlorine dioxide and its use in papermaking. The alliance promotes the use of chlorine-dioxide bleaching (also known as elemental chlorine-free or ECF technology), which eliminates persistent, bioaccumulative toxic substances in mill wastewater.

AET’s Web site offers information on the science of ECF, as well as fact sheets on chlorine dioxide. The "Environmentally Preferred Paper" section will help corporate purchasers decide what kind of paper to buy.
