This April 2008 draft report on bisphenol A (BPA) concludes that BPA, a chemical primarily used in polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins) is a concern mostly with fetuses, infants and children. Citing laboratory animal studies (there is a lack of tests on human exposure to BPA), this National Toxicology Report says there is some concern over exposing young populations to BPA and the possible effect exposure could have on development.

The report, which is presented for public comment and peer review, gives and extensive look at laboratory animal tests on exposure to BPA and explains the different conclusions of tests using high and low doses of BPA. The National Toxicology Program, a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has also set up a companion website with further information and explanation of BPA.
