Lane Wesley Burt is a passionate advocate for energy efficiency. Lane is a building engineer and longtime proponent of best-in-class technologies, strategies, and programs that maximize financial and environmental returns. From the details of appliance efficiency to the big-picture politics surrounding national energy and climate policy, Lane has advanced the best building science and the most innovative programs to reduce energy waste from the building sector.
Lane is a licensed professional engineer and after leaving engineering practice, he served as the Policy Director of the U.S. Green Building Council and as the federal energy efficiency lead for the Natural Resources Defense Council. In 2013, Lane founded Ember Strategies to focus on advancing energy efficiency in the private sector. Lane has Masters and Bachelors degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and North Carolina State University respectively.
Lane is a well-known speaker on efficiency and has given keynotes and technical presentations at a variety of events in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Lane has provided numerous briefings and testimonies before congressional committees in the U.S. Senate and House or Representatives, as well as federal agencies. He has done extensive press work on energy efficiency and his writing has been published in the Washington Post and many online outlets dedicated to green building.
