Neil McPhail

McPhail brings more than 20 years of professional retail experience to his role as Senior Vice President and General Manager of New Business Solutions for Best Buy Co., Inc., a multinational retailer of technology and entertainment products and services. In this position, McPhail oversees the development, operations and growth strategy of new categories, new formats, and new business models for the company, including growth platforms developing in the spaces of transportation, health and wellness, and home energy management. McPhail joined Best Buy in 1997 with 10 years of retail management experience under his belt. Starting as an assistant manager, McPhail was quickly promoted into roles with increasing responsibility, including general manager, regional operations manager, district manager, regional vice president and territory general manager. He was promoted to senior vice president of emerging business in 2007 where he oversaw the operations and growth strategy of emerging businesses for the company, including international growth platforms developing in large industries undergoing technological transitions. McPhail’s natural ability for unleashing the talents of his employees, tapping into unique insights to better meet customer needs and driving business growth have been readily apparent throughout his roles with Best Buy. McPhail is a board member for both the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) and the Alliance to Save Energy.
