Pamela Alabaster

Alabaster received her BA in Journalism from Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA and worked in magazine publishing for six years before attending New York University Stern School of Business where she earned an MBA in marketing. Following graduation, Alabaster joined Philip Morris USA where she worked in brand management on Marlboro, the world’s largest and most iconic brand. Alabaster joined Cosmair in 1992 as Brand Manager for Plenitude skincare. Alabaster was promoted to Director, AVP and then VP of Marketing for L’Oréal Paris cosmetics, skincare and mass fragrances in 1995. In 1997 she moved to the company’s Luxury Products Division and Vice President of Marketing for Lancôme and in 1998 was promoted to Senior Vice President for that brand. In 2000 she was asked to build a Corporate Media function and charged with aligning, consolidating and negotiating the company’s print advertising. Later that same year, she was appointed also appointed Senior Vice President Corporate Communications and helped lead the company’s rebranding from Cosmair to L’Oréal USA. In 2004 she formally established the company’s Public Affairs function and was responsible for the company’s state and federal government relations. In February 2011 she was tapped to build the company’s corporate sustainability function in the US. In this newly created role, Alabaster drives sustainability strategy, policy and practices across L’Oréal USA’s brands, corporate operations, research & development and other business activities. Alabaster is currently a second year candidate for a MS degree in Sustainability Management at Columbia University.
