State of Green Business Forum: Our Commitment to Sustainable Practices

From its inception, the State of Green Business Forum made a firm commitment to implement sustainable practices into its event planning and production. The State of Green Business Forum, at its core, aims to align environmental responsibility with its events operations. This fundamental mission is echoed in the eco-friendly considerations listed below.

The State of Green Business Forum’s Green Initiatives

Event Location – PG&E Auditorium, 245 Market Street, San Francisco, California

Located in a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified Building, the PG&E Auditorium marries a high standard of functionality with an equally high standard of environmental responsibility. As an independent certification program, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) organization, LEED is "the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings." For additional information on LEED rating systems and certification, visit USGBC.

  • In addition to its maintenance and system upgrades, the PG&E facility is committed to its recycling and composting program. Recycling and compost bins are conveniently located throughout the event venue.

Examples of Environmental Responsible Considerations Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Partnering with vendors with environmentally-friendly programs and products in place, including businesses for badges, lodging, and food & beverage
  • Minimizing paper output*
  • Exclusively using online registration and promotional marketing vehicles
  • Utilizing sustainable products whenever possible
  • Limiting shipping and packaging materials
  • Offering carpooling and public transportation information to attendees
  • Building a GreenBiz.com microsite after the event to share thoughts, review presentations, research, and more
  • Designing and constructing as many non-dated signs for future use
  • Providing recycling bins for paper and any reusable supplies used (including badge holders)
  • Employing reusable food service for meals and beverages

*If it is necessary to print, the Forum pledges to maximize the use of recycled paper, including double-side page printing and limiting “neon” paper usage.
