Simran Sethi

Simran Sethi is an award-winning freelance journalist, focusing on social and environmental sustainability. She is an associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Journalism and Mass Communications, where she teaches courses on environmental communications. Simran is currently writing a book on eco-elitism to be published by Harper Collins in 2010 and is the contributing author of Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy, winner of the bronze 2008 Axiom Award for Best Business Ethics book. The book is the companion guide to the first PBS series on sustainable business, "Ethical Markets," for which Simran served as host and writer. She is New York University's inaugural Goddard Fellow and an Associate Fellow at the Asia Society.
Simran is the founding host/ writer of the Sundance Channel's environmental programming, The Green and creator of the Sundance web series The Good Fight, highlighting global environmental justice efforts and featuring grassroots organizers including Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai and the "father" of environmental justice Robert Bullard. She is the anchor of the Sundance interstitial business series EcoBiz, and is a featured commentator and former story consultant for the original series Big Ideas for a Small Planet, the 2007 Environmental Media Award winner for Best Documentary. Simran is the host of the Emmy-award winning PBS production "A School in the Woods," highlighting environmental education efforts on Bainbridge Island.
