UN Global Compact Network Sri Lanka
Amjad Azmeer works as a sustainability associate for the UN Global Compact Network Sri Lanka. His role is to guide companies towards progress on science-based targets. He also encourages companies to endorse the commitment areas of the CEO Water Mandate. He acts as the lead facilitator for the Climate Ambition Accelerator Program.
His interest in sustainability started after completing the Business Sustainability Management Course by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) in 2022. He completed his master's degree in environmental engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2021, focusing on water management and technology, and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the American University of Sharjah (UAE) in 2018.
He has had the opportunity to speak at virtual climate events including Making Global Goals Local Business (MGGLB Sri Lanka) and moderate for the session Collective Action for Corporate Water Stewardship.
During his free time, he enjoys writing short environmental-related blogs on topics such as "What zero waste means to business" and "What water means to business."
