3. Ancient paint recipes reborn
The ancient Romans only built green buildings. Inspired by materials used before the arrival of petroleum-based paints about 50 years ago, Roma makes mineral-based paints that are non-toxic and cost less than the high-end low, or “zero” VOC paints.
Its technical innovation lies in creating an additive that allows ancient paint recipes, such as lime-based paints, to adhere to modern building equipment, including sheetrock and plywood. Its paint products are made in Italy where they comply with E.U. regulations for environmental stewardship and social fairness.
