Every year, globally, 8 million metric tons of plastics enter the oceans — adding to the estimated 150 million metric tons already there, harming the animals and people that depend on them. There are strategies to stop them from getting there, but no silver bullet, and leaders in a diverse set of spaces are interested in cutting marine plastic pollution.

Rob Kaplan, founder and CEO of Circulate Capital, an impact-focused investment management firm, with Haley Lowry, global sustainability director of Dow Chemical Company, and Janis Searles Jones, CEO of the international NGO Ocean Conservancy, sat down with Joel Makower at GreenBiz 19 in Phoenix, Arizona, to talk about how to tackle the growing global problem of ocean plastics.
