The utility of utilities in decarbonizing the cycle
It's no secret that many utilities companies are facing some problems.
New technology, clean energy integration and old infrastructure pose critical issues for utilities as they seek to "fulfill the requirements of our systems and meet the needs and expectations of our customers and stakeholders," according to Colton Ching, the Senior Vice President Planning & Technology at Hawaiian Electric.
Sienna Rogers, director of corporate strategy integration from PG&E, along with Brian Spak, leader of grids and renewable integration research at the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, agreed that the island nation of Hawaii is a crucial case study for larger mainland utilities companies as climate change begins to hit all of us harder.
