Veteran greentech reporter Katie Fehrenbacher joins GreenBiz Group
News release: GreenBiz Group announced today that Katie Fehrenbacher, a preeminent journalist reporting on clean technology, has joined the team as a senior writer and analyst. Fehrenbacher primarily will cover transportation and mobility and lend her expertise to building out the VERGE Transport conference, one of three concurrent conferences within VERGE 18.
At GreenBiz, Fehrenbacher will focus on a wide range of transportation technologies and business innovations, from autonomous vehicles to the electrification of ships, trains and aircraft. She also will head up programming for VERGE Transport, a new part of the global VERGE event hosted annually each fall by GreenBiz Group in the San Francisco Bay Area.
"Katie is a huge talent who has helped define the clean transportation revolution," said Joel Makower, GreenBiz Group’s chairman and executive editor. "She will play a key role in helping the GreenBiz editorial team amplify the massive market opportunities at the intersection of transportation, clean energy and sustainable communities."
Fehrenbacher has a long history covering leading-edge technologies in and around Silicon Valley. As a reporter working for Engadget, Red Herring, GigaOM and Fortune, she’s covered emerging technologies, startups and innovators in Silicon Valley for more than a decade. At GigaOM, she launched the company’s greentech channel and closely tracked energy entrepreneurs and investors. She also hosted a weekly video show highlighting electric vehicles and green transportation and previously has had her work published in Bloomberg, CNN, The Economist, The Guardian and The New York Times.
"Transportation is undergoing a massive transformation thanks to new technology, changing demographics and sustainability goals," said Fehrenbacher. "I’m excited to join an organization that’s focusing on accelerating this rapidly changing sector."
