Bertrand Piccard
Founder and Chairman
Solar Impulse Foundation
Bertrand Piccard is chair of the Solar Impulse Foundation, United Nations Ambassador for the Environment and special adviser to the European Commission. He made history by completing two round-the-world flights: non-stop in a balloon and more recently without any fuel in the solar-powered Solar Impulse airplane. The goal was to prove how clean technologies can achieve the impossible. Piccard then founded the Solar Impulse Foundation and launched #1000Solutions to support the growth of clean technologies that protect the environment while being profitable. The Swiss-based Solar Impulse Foundation opened a satellite location in Arlington, Virginia, in 2020.
