Carter has over 20 years of experience measuring and managing biodiversity and natural capital in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and the United States. At Pollination, she focuses on nature and climate business strategies with a range of clients, including supporting clients with the TNFD. Prior to Pollination, Carter was a Senior Manager at EY where she advised Fortune 500 companies in designing and implementing sustainability programs, impact measurement frameworks, and natural capital strategies and initiatives. Carter’s previous experience includes leading the Ecosystem Services program for the Wildlife Conservation Society, which focused on measuring and valuing natural capital to support conservation incentives. Carter did a Post-doctoral fellowship at the Earth Institute of Columbia University and an M.Sc. and D.Phil. at Oxford University, all of which focused on nature measurement and management to inform sustainable development. She has co-edited 2 books and written over 60 publications on biodiversity, natural capital, and economic development. She serves on the Terra Alpha Investment Advisory Board, Conservation Strategy Fund Board, HQ Capital Deep Impact Fund ESG expert group, the SNAPP Science Advisory Council, the Technical Advisory Committee for the UNDP Equator Initiative, served on the International Working Group for the TNFD, is a lead author for the IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment, co-led a USG working group on Natural Capital Accounting in the U.S. and participated in a working group to advance natural capital accounts in Rwanda.
