MOVE LA
Eli Lipmen (he/him) is the Director of Programming and Development for Move LA, a coalition-building nonprofit that led the campaign for transformative public transit funding in Los Angeles County. Move LA was founded in 2007 and was the catalyst for Measures R (2008) and M (2016), the transportation sales tax measures that fund $120 Billion in public infrastructure investments in Los Angeles County. Eli organizes campaigns to create affordable housing, fund public transit operations, address climate change, and clean California's air. He played a critical role supporting Metro's Fareless System Initiative, NextGen Bus Plan, and the countywide plan for bus rapid transit. He serves as co-chair of the transit workgroup for the South LA Promise Zone, SLATE-Z, working to bring public and private investments to underserved residents in South LA. He was appointed by Mayor Eric Garcetti to the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners, serving as President of the Commission overseeing 99 local Neighborhood Councils throughout the City of LA—the largest grassroots democracy system in the country. He lives with his partner and three kids in Los Angeles.
