Ecology 101: What Nature Can Teach Us

9:00 am - 10:00 am
Location:

Room 512, Willapa

What can the basics of ecology teach us about building a resilient, regenerative circular system?

The model of the circular economy owes its inspiration to ecology, the branch of biology that explores the relationships between living things and their interactions with their environment. Fundamentals of ecology serve as inspiration to build and improve upon circular systems, but how often do we have the opportunity to return to science class and learn from nature?

In this session, Andrew Howley, Chief Editor of AskNature.org and University of Washington’s soil ecologist Korena Mafune, PhD will dive into the basics of ecology and the many opportunities to learn from nature’s own regenerative and waste-free circular systems.
