It's Time to Tackle Food Waste
Daniel Burnham AB
How can the U.S. food industry collaborate and transform its business models to collectively achieve major reductions in food waste?
In the United States, 38 percent of all food is wasted — a $473 billion opportunity, including $220 billion for food businesses alone. Food waste represents six percent of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, making it one of the most actionable ways to reduce our impact on the planet.
To help drive action nationwide, ReFED has launched the new U.S. Food Waste Pact. This initiative will see leaders in the food industry — ALDI, Walmart, Aramark, Del Monte, Whole Foods and more — work together to evolve their operations to reduce waste. Building on the regional success of the Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment, the U.S. Food Waste Pact is a voluntary agreement for major food retailers, suppliers and more to share data and best practices to achieve ambitious food waste reduction goals. Join us for valuable insights into industry-wide efforts and actionable strategies for food waste reduction in your own organization.
