Incorporating regenerative practices into fields while keeping the crops and supply chains the same has become the dominant approach to lower-carbon and more resilient U.S. agriculture. It comes with three big challenges: 1) Changing one farmer at a time is a slow and tedious process; 2) it puts a disproportionate financial and administrative burden on them; and 3) it distracts from implementing more systemic changes. This session explores how companies could go a different route and change markets rather than farmers — by adopting regional and diversified sourcing strategies with more impactful environmental outcomes.
