WBCSD's Reception on Business Action Against Inequality
Hosted by World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)
Inequality is a systemic risk that threatens to undermine a business's capacity to tackle complex challenges. The business role in tackling inequality goes beyond mitigating risk and touches on the need to distribute value and opportunity more equitably to ensure business and society can thrive long-term. Through the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI), more than 60 global businesses and civil society leaders laid out a roadmap for private sector action. The BCTI provides an agenda for action along with the tools that businesses across all sectors can use to address inequality-related risks and opportunities within business value chains.
Approximately 1 in 5 children in the US, or roughly 20%, are unsure how they will get their next meal. The Equity Agenda is more relevant than ever. Join WBCSD for a conversation with Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP and Wawa Gatheru, founder of Black Girl Environmentalist and youth climate activist, to discuss the need for action and, more crucially, the profound potential within the business community to meet the expectations of Americans to achieve a just transition.
