Carbon Project Finance Forum
Early-stage carbon project finance remains nascent and opaque. As a result, many high-potential carbon removal projects remain underfunded and struggle to get off the ground, leading to a constrained supply of high-quality credits. And, importantly, missed opportunities for the climate. Closer coordination between carbon buyers and early-stage project investors is essential in order to reduce investment risk and give buyers greater insight into project development and quality.
Carbon Project Finance Forum at GreenFin 24 is an invitation-only workshop that provides a unique opportunity for carbon buyers and project investors to jointly evaluate deal structures and investment risks in order to unlock the promise of carbon markets for large-scale climate benefit.
What to Expect
The program will center on roundtable working groups related to specific carbon project types, including both nature- and tech-based carbon removal project types. Expect actionable insights on how carbon investors evaluate risk, carbon buyers’ priorities, and opportunities to bring more quality projects into the voluntary carbon market. We’ll dig into 360-degree assessments of real-world carbon projects, financing needs, and strategies. There will also be front-of-the-room expert panels on emerging project finance strategies and remaining gaps, as well as focused networking with a diverse group of carbon buyers and investors. The event will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule to encourage candid conversations.
Audience
More than 50 carbon project investors — including climate impact funds, family offices, pensions, insurance companies, and other organizations that invest, or are interested in carbon removal projects — and carbon buyers, including corporate sustainability professionals, alongside their legal and finance partners.
