What will it take to decarbonize the “hard-to-electrify” areas of transportation?
From sustainable aviation fuels to hydrogen- and ammonia-based fuels for shipping and low-emission e-fuels for trucking, there are low- or zero-carbon solutions that address decarbonizing hard-to-electrify areas of transportation. How we decarbonize the rest of the sector and with what technologies and resources will dictate whether we achieve a truly net-zero transportation future. Experts will discuss the tradeoffs, from carbon and air pollution reductions to high costs and complex storage and production logistics. We will explore how to weigh the pros and cons of investing in and building out infrastructure around these new technologies that are necessary to fully decarbonize transportation but may not revolve around pure electrification.
