About
JUN 11 - 13, 2019 HONOLULU, HI , HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGEIn 2015, Hawaii became the first state in the nation to mandate 100 percent renewable energy in the electricity sector by 2045. This bold mandate was unprecedented for a U.S. state, positioning Hawaii at the forefront of the clean energy transition.
It’s taken time for the market to position itself to take advantage of this enormous opportunity, but now it’s taking off — with deals closing and investments being made at a faster pace than ever before.
This is no longer just a clean electricity conversation. In 2017, several Hawaii mayors committed to 100 percent renewable fuel sources for public and private ground transportation by 2045 (and fleets by 2035).
Achieving these ambitious clean electricity and transportation commitments requires systems-level thinking across policy, technology and infrastructure. Stakeholders are still in need of solutions that will urgently address their clean energy mandates and commitments — equitably and inclusively.
VERGE Hawaii is the platform for the systems-level thinking necessary to build the clean economy. Further, it's a platform to spread lessons and ideas beyond Hawaii — increasing the resilience of other island nations and communities around the world.
VERGE Hawaii enables participants to create new partnerships and explore emerging technologies and trends that will increase economic and community resilience — in Hawaii and worldwide.
