
Fred Stolle

Fred Stolle is deputy director of WRI's Forests Program. He has advised the World Bank, the governments of Indonesia and the Republic of Congo on reduced deforestation programs (REDD+) as part of the UN Climate framework (UNFCCC). Fred is also involved in several international processes including the Global Forest Observation Initiative (GFOI), Forest Carbon Partnership (FCPF), the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil, and the Forest Resources Assessment (UN FAO).
Fred started as a Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote sensing specialist at ITC (Netherlands), UNEP (Nairobi) and UNESCO (Jakarta), and holds a MSc in Landscape ecology and a PhD in Geography. He serves as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International. He has worked at WRI, Washington, DC USA since 2003.
