Jacques Leslie writes narrative nonfiction about global environmental issues. He currently contributes to the New Yorker and the New York Times opinion pages. His book on dams, Deep Water: The Epic Struggle Over Dams, Displaced People, and the Environment, won the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award for its “elegant, beautiful prose.” He recently published an ebook, A Deluge of Consequences, that portrays a project in Bhutan to counter the effects of climate change.
