Jennifer Jarland is the Recycling Program Coordinator for Kane County, Illinois. Following a 17-year career in business and retail management, the last 8 years have been spent in the environmental field. She holds a double degree in Environmental Studies and Psychology, which serve well to foster sustainable behavior in the resource recovery realm. While managing, improving, and expanding recycling programs for Kane County, she also works with Illinois County and Agency colleagues on larger state issues. Recently that work has been focused on promoting food scrap composting and product stewardship initiatives in the state. She is a Director of the Board of the Illinois Recycling Association. When she’s not working, she enjoys growing an urban organic food garden and composting in her back yard in Chicago, and also makes recycled city art out of rusty metal objects.
