Joanna Underwood

Joanna D. Underwood is founder of Energy Vision, whose mission is to analyze and promote ways to make a swift transition to pollution-free renewable energy sources and to the clean, petroleum-free transportation fuels of the future.

Ms. Underwood built INFORM, which she ran for 30 years, into a prime force in assessing the impact of business practices, technologies and products on the environment and human health and in identifying avenues of innovation aimed at preventing waste, pollution and the depletion of resources at the source.

Energy Vision, which she founded in 2006, now focuses on steps this country can take to end its reliance on oil. Under her leadership, these organizations have produced more than 100 solution-oriented reports, and received numerous awards, including 3 from the Environmental Protection Agency. These reports have been widely used by business and government leaders in crafting policies aimed at moving the U.S. toward a sustainable future.
