Lise Kingo is an independent board director in Sanofi S.A. (France), in Danone (France), in Covestro A.G (Germany) and in Aker Horizons ASA (Norway). She is also a member of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Humanitarian and Development Advisory Board.
From 2015 to 2020 she was CEO and executive director of United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainable business initiative, appointed by former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in New York.
She joined Novo Nordisk in 1988, where she remained for 26 years. She served as chief of staff, executive vice president and member of the executive management team from 2002 to 2014, where she was instrumental in defining Novo Nordisk's sustainable business strategy.
She is a former visiting professor at the Medical Faculty, Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and a longstanding member of HRH Prince of Wales, Cambridge University Faculty for Sustainability Leadership, London. She has received numerous awards, most recently the Thomson Reuters Responsible Business Honouree Award 2020.
A native of Denmark, Lise holds bachelor's degrees in religions and ancient Greek art from the University of Aarhus in Denmark, a bachelor's degree in marketing and economics from the Copenhagen Business School and a master's degree in responsibility and business from the University of Bath in the U.K. Furthermore, Lise is certified as a director by INSEAD, IDP-C’15Oct, in France.
Throughout her career, she has held positions in Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, the Netherlands and the United States.
