Madeleine Orr is founder and co-director of The Sport Ecology Group, and an assistant professor of sport management at SUNY Cortland. Madeleine studies the impacts of climate change on the sport sector, with a focus on vulnerability and resilience research.
Madeleine's work has been published in the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, Managing Sport & Leisure, Event Management, the International Journal of Festival and Event Management, the Journal of Sport & Tourism, Sustainability, and Qualitative Research in Sport, Exercise and Health.
Madeleine is a board member for Eco-Athletes, Think Ocean, and holds a regional seat representing Canada & the Caribbean with the Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace network. Prior to beginning her doctoral program, Madeleine worked in tourism operations in the ski industry, sold and activated sponsorship in the obstacle racing sector, and worked in travel and tourism at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
