Matt Golden is an entrepreneur and policy advocate, committed to bringing energy efficiency in the built environment to scale as a demand side resource. He has consulted on energy, technology, and finance for the EPA, DOE, CEC, and PG&E, as well as a range of private companies.
Golden is CEO of Open Energy Efficiency developers of the open-source Open EE Meter and the OEE Data Platform.
He leads Environmental Defense Fund’s Investor Confidence Project implementing a system to credential Investor Ready Energy Efficiency™ projects, designed to reduce transaction costs, and develop actuarial data to unlock capital markets.
Golden is a Senior Energy Consultant with the Institute for Building and Technology Safety, and established IBTS' residential solar quality assurance system, which is the leading provider of solar quality assurance for solar providers in all major solar markets. He co-lead the Solar Quality Initiative (www.solarquality.org) in partnership with NREL Solar Access to Public Capital (SAPC) process.
He is a national leader in the energy efficiency industry and was instrumental in forming Efficiency First, and servers on a number of national and state nonprofit boards, including the Building Performance Institute, National Home Performance Council, ACI, CBPCA, Build It Green, and the Home Performance Resource Council.
Golden holds a bachelor’s degree in foreign relations from Georgetown University and is a licensed California contractor.
