Matt Lerhman is a senior associate within RMI's Electricity Practice where he focuses on electric utility industry regulation and business model development. His recent work includes an analysis of new pricing models for distributed energy resources in collaboration with eLab partners and other industry stakeholders.
Prior to joining RMI, Matt worked at Westar Energy, an investor-owned utility in Topeka, Kansas. In this capacity, Matt first contributed to a successful smart grid deployment strategy then managed the distributed generation and electric transportation initiatives for the company and worked on new business development.
Matt also spent six years on the City of Lawrence Sustainability Advisory Board, advising city commissioners and staff on policy promoting environmental, social and economic vitality. This work included successful inclusion of sustainability metrics in the City's Horizon 2020 long-term plan, the establishment of a Climate Protection and Peak Oil Task Forces, the hiring and retention of a City/County Sustainability Coordinator and a mandatory residential curbside recycling program.
