Mike Hower is a sustainability and ESG communicator and connector committed to helping purpose-driven businesses and people unlock their full potential for positive impact. As founder and principal consultant at Hower Impact, he works with companies to translate sustainability strategy into stories that inform, engage and inspire investors, customers, employees, regulators, and other stakeholders in the service of social, environmental, and business goals.
Mike’s experience and expertise ranges from ESG strategy and reporting to sustainability communication strategy and engagement. Previously, he led client engagement at thinkPARALLAX, where he facilitated sustainability strategy and communication partnerships with companies such as Snap, Fossil Group, Neiman Marcus Group, Merck, Coupa Software and Sunnova, among others. Before that, he was a sustainability communication strategist at Edelman, where he worked with The North Face, HP, Kashi and others on sustainability communication strategy and engagement.
Beginning his career as a journalist, Mike has written for GreenBiz, Sustainable Brands and Triple Pundit. He continues to contribute to GreenBiz today, where he writes about the latest trends in sustainable business and communication.
Mike also is passionate about solving what he calls “the impact careers and connection crisis” and through his Impact Hired initiative works to convene, educate, and energize sustainability professionals of all levels.
He holds a Master's in Strategic Communication and Public Affairs from George Washington University and a Bachelor's in Political Science and History from the University of California, Davis.
