Sears to Keep Tabs on Chemicals in Products With WERCSmart Software

Sears Holdings will implement the WERCSmart program, which uses software from The Wercs to provide information about chemicals and hazardous materials in products, and also provide details on how to properly dispose of products.

Sears Holdings will start using the WERCSmart software program to better understand and access information about chemicals and hazardous materials in products along with information on how to dispose of certain products.

The WERCSmart program is offered by The Wercs, a provider of chemical compliance, assessment and hazard communication software and services.

WERCSmart provides information about products, from suppliers, with details on the chemicals inside products, compliance data, and handling information.

Aerosols, paints and pesticides can contain hazardous materials, and when they are damaged, defective, obsolete or need to be tossed for some other reason, they need to be handled and disposed of in certain ways.

Sears Holding will add the program to its disposal practices throughout its Sears and Kmart locations.
