Serious Materials, in league with the Department of Energy and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, were in the limelight Wednesday, when representatives for the three outfits joined prime time TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" in the D.C. metro area, where a community center and a home were being razed and rebuilt green.

Serious Materials donated its high R-Value SeriousWindows to the projects.

The DOE and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory lent their expertise to help the replacement buildings become highly efficient as well as cost effective.

“Windows are absolutely critical to the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings,” the Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Jeff Christian said in a prepared statement.

“Given our zero energy design goals for these projects, I immediately called upon Serious Materials for their super-insulating windows. To maximize insulation, visibility, and energy savings, we chose high R-value SeriousWindows. I couldn’t be more pleased that Serious Materials contributed to these projects.”
