A bath wash by Aveeno, a Physician’s Formula moisturizer and five household products by Nature’s Source and Clorox Green Works are the first items to receive the Green Good Housekeeping Seal.

Good Housekeeping introduced its green seal program in spring when it announced it is entering the ecolabeling arena.

Products in the first wave to receive the new seal were announced Thursday. The completion of their review by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute represents 18 months of research and development to launch the new program, the organization said.

The products receiving the Green Good Housekeeping Seal are:

  • Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment
  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Tinted Moisturizer
  • Green Works’ Natural Bathroom Cleaner
  • Nature’s Source Laundry Stain Remover
  • Nature’s Source Glass & Surface Cleaner
  • Nature’s Source All Purpose Cleaner
  • Nature’s Source Natural Bathroom Cleaner

To be considered for the green seal, products must first receive the Good Housekeeping Seal and undergo the review process to obtain that mark. Aspects considered in the review for green seal include reduction of water use in manufacturing, energy efficiency in manufacturing and product use, ingredient and product safety, packaging reduction and the brand’s corporate social responsibility.
